Present: The Day I Have to Thankful
Source: Pinterest |
The future will not guarantee you success or happiness, the one and only who make it happen it's you. Present-oriented is more important, that is why present means gift. The days we passed are gifts that we should be grateful for. Sometimes we are too focused on something we have not done and neglected how the little things will bring us happiness or a better life.
It's nice to plan ahead to help you achieve your future goals. But, how did you do when the reality directed you into another path? For example, your plan is don't match with the timeline or out of your expectation. I had read a book from Haemin Sunim (He is one of the most influential Zen Buddhist teachers and writers in South Korea) with tittle "The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down: How to be Calm in the Fast-Paced World", he said “When you have to make an important decision, don’t lose sleep over it. Just take the special medicine called “time” and wait. Your subconscious will search for the answer”. From this book Haenim Sunim teach us to be settled on something and see how the little things works.
i will not confusing you to pick one which better between future-oriented or present-oriented. Deciding whether being concerned with the future is positive or negative, mainly depends on what you mean by ‘concerned’. If it means constant worrying, then being future-oriented might have a bad connotation for you. In this case, should we be more present-oriented? After all, life happens here and now. Just don't worries. Because, when we are doing a good things there are a good way.
Focus on what you did today it means you are in the higher level to achieve your future goals. Don't forget to be thankful for yourself and people around you. Be thankful for yourself because you are doing great to upgrade yourself into the best version of you everyday and should be thank you for people around you because without them you are nothing (sometimes we grow up from people suffering). And last feeling grateful, Haenim Sunim said “The more grateful we feel, the happier we become. This is because gratitude helps us realize we are all connected. Nobody feels like an island when feeling grateful. Gratitude awakens us to the truth of our interdependent nature”
